_VIRTUAL-REAL WATER_
Real Water-Virtual Water: from Global to Local
Water is the most important resource on the planet, but at the same time it is also the most threatened one: economic, production and environmental factor due to human action are threatening its availability causing conflicts. Through a deep bibliographic review it was possible to highlight how these problems derive from the loss of relation between man and water and how the issues concerning real water mix with the one of virtual water and, through the international trade of products, to the ones of food. Thanks to a cross-sectional analysis about issues concerning land management, agriculture, economy and food and highlighting the connections between their problems, the causes that made Italy become the third largest net virtual water importer in the world have been detected and the crucial point for the change, based on the principles of systems design, have been outlined.
